  • About (long version)
I am Coralie Mercier. I share thoughts and experiences, mostly in English, sometimes in French, and mostly about work related discoveries, drawings, photography, musings and sometimes rants. My day job is Head of Marketing & Communications at W3C. I do not have a night job.

    Art: Mickey-Raccoon (step by step)

Wet blue paint around the cat and in his eyes. The ceramic pan is nearly empty.

Gouache painting of my siberian cat, Mickey-Raccoon, curled up on the side.

(Commission from DanielD for his sister who regularly gives me hand-made ceramic items <3)

    Step by step

Loose pencil sketch on a watercolour paper pad. On the table around it are ceramic pans where I mixed blue paint, grey paint and brown paint. There is a water jar and brushes, and the gouache tubes.
My right hand holding a brush and mixing brown with grey to add darker patches to the fur of the cat on paper.
My left hand holding a bigger brush loaded with blue paint as I start painting the background.
Wet blue paint around the cat and in his eyes. The ceramic pan is nearly empty.
Black touches in the eyes, on the fur, as outline and at the end of the tail. While touches for the whiskers and the fur in the ears. The piece is now dated and signed in white.
Trying out a white mounting mat to see if the size will work.
Finished piece framed in white. I'm holding it with my left hand and photographying it with my right. I'm visible in the reflection.
