Memes from Columbo episodes

Episode title interstitial showing as background closeups of red wine glasses where the wine shines in red stars and the crystal in white stars

I recently treated myself to a few seasons of Columbo “photoplays”, as they were called in the early 70s. Look at the quality glimmers!

Here are the “memes” I collected along the way.

Lieutenant Columbo sitting on gym equipment next to a man, telling him “you know, before coffee, I’m up, I’m walking around, but I’m not awake.”

Aren’t we all?…

Lieutenant Columbo, harnessed to a treadmill, is sweating while in conversation with a character played by Robert Conrad. The caption reads “It’s a whole different attitude.”

”It’s a whole different attitude.”

A smiling young woman with eyeglasses looking happy. She said “[it’s the first time someone told me] they liked me for my body instead of my mind.”

Awkward feminism: “[It’s the first time someone told me] they liked me for my body instead of my mind.”

Lieutenant Columbo in boxer shorts, his green cigar at his mouth, seats on a massage table in front of a bald and very muscular man in white telling him “I want you to relax.”

Just relax, m’kay?

Lieutenant Columbo between the open door of his car and his dog, a basset hound spread flat on his side in the grass, talks to a tall young woman (who in the episode trains dogs), telling her “Thos dog could be a lethal weapon.”

This basset hound could be a lethal weapon.

In a library, Lieutenant Columbo is holding an open book sideways and at arm’s length, looking perplexed. The book is “New History of Erotic Art”

”Ooh yeah …”
